Community leaders banded together to raise funds for the YMCA, which was built in 1925.  Hundreds turned out for the dedication.  In its early days, the community room was filled with meetings of civic organizations, ballroom dancing classes, and Wednesday night high school Terps dances.  Because girls were not welcome in the early 1900s, boys always swam without bathing suits!  Today The YMCA of Western Stark County focuses on fitness, child care, and swimming opportunities for everyone.
